1845, "United States of America," Wyld, James, Royal Geographer to the Queen and H.R.H. Prince Albert, Charing Cross, East London. Published by Wiley & Putnam, London, 1845. Large folding map, not from atlas. (Image 20-3/4" wide x 14-7/8" high on 22-1/2" x 16-1/4" page). Original color shading and outlining. Beautifully engraved with delicate, attractive pastel coloring. Scale: 1" = 150 miles, with inset of Great Britain, on the same scale. This map shows the Republic of Texas outlined in a pastel terra cotta color. Very good condition: three small fold tears neatly repaired on reverse with Filmoplast acid-free archival tape; slight offsetting visible in area of Gulf of Mexico and Pacific Ocean. Please note tape repair on face of lower left quarter.
