"Political Map of the United States, Mexico and the British Provinces," William Channing Woodbridge,1845, Hartford. Engraved by J.M. Atwood, New York. (Image: 18" wide x 10-3/4" high). Original hand outline color. Map is dated at lower left, "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1845 by William C. Woodbridge in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of Massachusetts." This fairly large map shows the following Texas towns: Nacogdoches, San Augustine, Houston, Austin, Galveston, Brasoria (sp.), Matagorda, Goliad, Bexar, San Patricio and Mier. The maps also shows and names the Route of the Santa Fe Caravan and J. Greggs Route to Santa Fe. Symbols on the map reference six different city sizes. The insets are of: Railways and Canals in the Middle States; Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa; and the District of Columbia. All of the Indian tribes are shown across the west, northwest and into the British Provinces. The condition of this map is excellent.
