"Sam Houston,"  from "A Geographical and Historical View of Texas," L.T. Pease, Hartford, 1837. The image shown is approximately  4 1/2" wide by 7 3/4"  high. This small copperplate engraving print depicts General Houston in a formal Texian uniform as a younger man.  It is one of the very few works of art existing which was printed contemporaneously with the events of our Declaration of Independence in 1836. Please note the slight foxing. Paper is in excellent condition.
