"Battle of the Alamo,"  the frontispiece from "A Geographical and Historical View of Texas," L.T. Pease, Hartford, 1837. The image shown is approximately the same size as the original ( 3" wide x 3" high). It is on a larger page of 4 1/2" x 7 3/4" with descriptive information about the book printed above and below the image. This very small copperplate engraving would be beautiful in an bright white oval, double mat with 4" borders. It is one of the very few works of art  existing which was printed contemporaneously with the events of the Declaration of Independence in 1836.
