"Carte des Etats-Unis D' Amerique," Conrad Malte-Brun, plate 75, Geographic Moderne. (Image: 11-3/4" wide x 8-1/2" high).  Malte-Brun (1775-1826) was a Danish geographer who served as secretary of the French Society of Geography. The engraver of this map was Thierry, Rue de Mathurins St. Jacques No. 1, Paris. This map was published in or around 1835-1840 and depicts Texas as a Republic. Santa Fe is the only city shown but the River names are: Sabine, Natches, Trinidad, Brazos de Dios (arms of God), Colorado, Guadalupe, Nouissour, Salado and Rio Grande del Norte. The area now known as Oklahoma is shown as "Territoire d' Arkansas," with the R. Rouge as the border between Arkansas and Texas. Excellent condition.
