"Elevation and Plan showing General Construction of Beacons marking Ship Channel Galveston Bay, Texas," Photo-Lith by A. Hoen & Co., Baltimore, Maryland, 1890. (Image: 10 ½" wide x 11 3/4" high). This general elevation was included in a report of Major Charles J. Allen to Brig. General Thomas L. Casey, Chief of Engineers. The report was on the "Improvement of Rivers and Harbors in the State of Texas. The project originated in 1874 with the object being to deepen the Galveston channel "so as to admit sea-going vessels of the deepest draught." This plate was folded and included in a report to the U.S. Congress. Excellent condition.
