"County Map of Texas and Indian Territory," Bradley, Garretson & Company, Philadelphia,1881. (Image: 11" high x 8-3/4" wide). Unlike most 19th Century American maps, this small and unusual hand-colored map is dated on its face, just below the border, at bottom left: "Copyright by Bradley & Co. 1881." It is an original relief line engraving printed from a copper plate. The hand-engraved title is very striking because of its unusual shading. The original hand-colored pastels are yellow, red, pink and green. City and village names are clear and sharp. The map reflects the names of railroad lines, rail stations, cities, towns, lakes, mountains and rivers. It is printed on only one side of a fold-out page, the image measures 11" wide x 8" high. It is in excellent condition on quality, medium weight paper. This graphic piece of Texas history is a beautiful work of art.
